Colca Canyon Peru
This is thought to be the deepest place in the world and it is even deeper than the Grand Canyon in the USA. The most remarkable thing about it however is that unlike the Grand Canyon, some of its areas are habitable and it has some pre Colombian terraces that support modern agriculture as well as human life. This canyon is one of the predominant tourist attraction sites in Peru today.
On the way to the great colca canyon, there are stops at condors that are strategically located along the route. Just to go by public means which is cheaper and which will allow you to mingle with the locals more. Enjoy the condors on the rising thermals, an experience that is uniquely Peruvian and which would never be the same elsewhere in the world.
