Machu Picchu Peru
This one is a pre-Columbian Inca site that is very popular. It is located at least 2430 meters above sea level. While many archeologists believe that this site was built for the Inca emperor Pachacuti whose rule ended in 1472, the Machu Picchu remain the oldest Inca sites to date. Having been brought to the attention of the world in 1911, the site is now a popular tourist attraction in Peru
The fact that the site was not known to the Spanish people until very late means that the site is intact. In regard to this, it was declared world heritage site by UNESCO in 1983. Today, you will see the greatest Inca architecture of the time. You will also see the three predominant buildings, which are the Intihuatana, the Room of the Three Windows and the Temple of the Sun.
