Peru Visa Requirements
It is important to note that since 2008, you can no longer extend your stay in Peru if you were there on a tourist visa, but you have to leave and reenter again. All tourists are required to have tourist visas, which are granted upon arrival at the Peruvian border. The maximum number of day that your tourist visa can go for is 183 but this is at the discretion of the officer granting the visa.
Whether you are on tourist visa or not, you will be required to show proof of financial solvency or you will be denied entry. Of course, entry into Peru without a visa is illegal and considered criminal. Make sure that your passport has the necessary blank pages for stamping but US citizens can have extra pages added in Peru.
