Plaza Mayor Peru
Also called the Plaza de Armas Peru, this is the birthplace of Lima. It is actually the heart of Lima and it is surrounded by royal, municipal, political as well as religious power. The government palace, the municipal palace, the Palace of the Union and the palace of the archbishop of Lima all surround the plaza mayor.
The architecture of this plaza is amazing and this is what attracts many tourists to the city of Lima. So far, there is no other building in the earth that can surpass this one in history and adventure. It has been used as a public gallows by the colonial system as well as a bull-fighting ring. Independence has been declared in this plaza and decisions affecting millions of lives have been made here. It is one of the finest and most well formed plazas that anyone has ever seen.
